Job Summary:
The LTL Operations Manager is responsible for coordinating and managing Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) shipments to ensure efficient transportation, timely delivery, and cost-effective solutions. This role involves liaising with carriers, customers, and internal teams to optimize logistics operations and maintain high service levels.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Shipment Coordination: Plan, schedule, and over LTL freight movements, ensuring efficient routing and on-time deliveries
- Identify and prioritize problems; make suggestions to correct any operational issues
- Develop and execute timely resolutions to transit delays; notify clients of any issues with shipments
- Educate and assist customers in industry and/or regulatory changes.
- Determine the most cost-effective recovery plan for missed pick-ups and deliveries.
- Identify accessorial charge patterns and further analyze cost mitigation opportunities
- Assist Sales and Accounting departments on invoicing discrepancies.
Qualifications & Preferred Skills
- Previous brokerage-related or transportation-related experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university, with focus on supply chain management preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in LTL
- Ability to interpret LTL tariffs and mitigate unnecessary costs
- Develop and execute LTL strategy to optimize service levels, improve cost efficiency, and support the company’s broader logistics and transportation objectives
- Establish and maintain strong partnerships with key LTL carriers. Negotiate contracts, resolve disputes, and manage service agreements to maximize value and ensure service quality
- Quick learner, multi-tasker, organized, detail-oriented problem-solver.
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven experience managing/prioritizing your own work assignments, and meeting deadlines.
- Requires confidence and independent decision-making skills to problem-solve, juggle competing priorities, and provide accurate and responsive customer service.
- Ability to quickly to assess client situations and escalate to management when needed.
- Required computer skills: proficiency with TMS, Windows operating system, MS Excel, MS Word, email, and internet browsers.
